Confirmed or Busted?

In response to Mrs. Kallas' blog assignment:

My expectations for the Mythbusters exhibit at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History were confirmed. The exhibit was very entertaining and hands-on with many different experiments to look at. The day went by smoothy and was great! I got to spent the day with the people who have the same interest as me and we love to do the same thing. One thing that wasn't on point would be the other exhibits weren't as interactive and stuffed as the main one.

In the Mythbusters exhibit, All the experiments were fun and exciting. one of them was a rain tunnel that you could either run or walk in and at the end you could go under a blacklight and you would glow form the dye in the rain. another one was a swing hanging only from phone books. The last one would be a farting chair. There were so many to choose from!  I had a great time!

Humor

In class this week we were assigned by Mrs. Kallas in her blog to read an article  from FEAs  Go Teach! magazine.  (The topic of the magazine is humor in the classroom. )

I have had many interesting teachers in my years of schooling.  Most of my teachers that were humorous or fun taught the subjects that I remember the most from. They are also the classes that I had the better grades in. They make the class atmosphere and lessons a lot more exciting and entertaining.  Adding even just a little bit of  humor or playful attitude into the lesson or towards a subject makes the class and students have so much more fun and involvement than just a teacher talking in monotone. All my teachers who didn't have one stitch of humor, just had dry sarcasm and bored me to tears.  I also had lower grades in the class.

Humor should always be included in a classroom environment. It makes the students be more engaged and actually want to learn. It also make you the awesome, cool teacher everyone wants to have! :)

Mirror, Mirror....

This is in Response to Mrs. Kallas' Blog assignment~

1.) I competed in the Chapter yearbook competition.

2.) I gathered pictures form the server for the different pages. I typed the paragraphs included on each page. I found the background paper that we used for each page. I also helped with the cutting and gluing of the pages. I don't think I would of done anything different about our teams process and making of the book. but if  I could change something, it would be that we should of started on the book earlier than we did.

3.)The competition was a really cool experience. I enjoyed spending time with my fellow classmates and competing with them. Though our project was great for the event, we still have a lot to do before state, so we can be more confident about our product.

4.) I learned that in order to get stuff done and have a wonderful outcome, you have to work as a team and commit  to what your doing.

5.) I would give myself a 97 as a grade. I did miss a couple of days because of band, so I feel like I can't take full credit for the workload. But I did everything I could do every time I was in class and even skipped my field site days to follow up on the project.

6.) To complete our project before state, I would make sure that every page was full and included everything we needed to get a perfect score. I would make sure that every page is clean and free of glue strings and uneven paper cuts. I would make sure that everything throughout the yearbook connected with our theme and flows together with each other,

What would yo do?

This post is in response to Mrs. Kallas post What would you do? post

My response for Scenario 4 is the the EAT intern should take responsibility and not get on the bus. She knew that the attire she had on was inappropriate and not acceptable for the field site. The intern needs to stay at the school. She needs to contact her BCTAL EAT teacher AND her Field site teacher and communicate with them that she forgot her name badge and shirt and that the outfit she has on is not suitable for her field site. The EAT is not going to have time to be at every field site each day, so the intern need to be held accountable for her own decisions. She need to be wise in her choices because any wrong move can harm and damage not only their image but the programs as well.

This would be appropriate to wear at field sites:

How to Thrive During Your Field Experiences

This blog is in response to the "How to Thrive During Your Field Experiences" linked on KKallas's blog~

  • The easiest tip offered in the article for me would be the point about being active and on your feet. I love to move and have fun, so trying to get the kids involved and learning won't be  a problem for me. I love to ask people questions and how they got what they got, so trying to do the same to little kids will not be a challenge for me. I really like to talk and figure out people, so doing that in a classroom setting with kids will be a joy.

  •  The most challenging one for me would be take every day as a job interview. I get nervous about some things because I don't want to mess anything up, so constantly thinking that the field site is like a job interview will be a little scary for me.

  • I think I will struggle with being nervous this year. I don't want to say anything wrong in front of the kids or mess anything up. But I can say I am really anxious this year just for the experience itself. I very excited to meet my kids and gain and grow relationships with them and my teacher. I hope to grow to be the coolest teacher ever! :) Like this:
